"The Prairie is Our Garden"

The AHS 2016 Region One Meeting took place on July 22-24 in Flandreau, SD. An early morning downpour on Saturday did nothing to quench the enthusiasm of registrants, and a good time was had by all. On behalf of those who attended, I would like to thank our hosts and other team members who ensured that this meeting was a great success: Donna Steele, chairperson; garden owners, Vicky Aughenbaugh, Le Walls and Linda Whitaker; bus captains Virginia Delvaux and Bert Moore; treasurer/registrar Alexis McEnelly; Virginia Delvaux, silent auction table; Kris Henning and her crew from Minnesota, who took care of the bargain table and labeling; Paul Owen, Zora and Paul Ronan, daylily auction; and Tasha Lee, line items. The webmaster would like to post meeting photos and invites attendees to send them as e-mail attachments to: jonathan-poulton@uiowa.edu. Minutes of the Board Meeting and Business Meeting are available.

How Did NDSU's AHS
Display Garden Get Started?

Region One is proud to have within its boundaries a modern and historic AHS daylily Display Garden on the campus of North Dakota State University in Fargo, ND. How this garden came into being is a fascinating story that is told in two articles authored by Mary Baker (Region One Historic Daylily Garden Liaison), Karen Schock (former Central North Dakota Daylily Society President), and Janice Dehod (Canadian Prairie Daylily Society President, Manitoba).
